About me

Hi, I’m Rhonda Jones! I’m a vegan food blogger, mom to an amazing 15-year-old boy, and chief mess maker in the kitchen here at Fresh Fun Flavor. I’m passionate about creating vegan recipes that are easy, family-friendly, and packed with flavor. Because vegan food should be fun to eat, simple to make, and ridiculously delicious.

I live in a little country town in Southeast Michigan with my forever person Chris, my kiddo Justin, and Charlie our rescue kitty. A few years ago, our family made the exciting leap to a fully vegan lifestyle, (literally overnight) and we’ve never looked back!

My Culinary Journey

With over 35 years of experience in the kitchen, my love for cooking from scratch began at an early age (thanks mom ❤). So when we made the switch to vegan cooking it was actually REALLY fun for me, I couldn't wait to wake up every morning and see what new thing I could create out of just plants, grains, seeds, and nuts. What started as family dinners around the table has now grown into a recipe blog where I test, tweak, and taste every recipe until it’s just right.

Our family's transition to veganism began after a friend suggested we check out two documentaries, What The Health and Forks Over Knives. The information was so eye opening that by the time the credits rolled it was a no brainer: we were all in. For us this wasn't just about food, it was a transformative journey toward better health, vitality, and connection.

Real Food, Real Life

Chris immediately enrolled in the Forks Over Knives Culinary School, bringing his new culinary expertise, flavors, and techniques into our kitchen. I immersed myself in researching and understanding everything I could about plant-based/vegan nutrition, and the benefits were seemingly endless.

We noticed some of these benefits quite quickly. Within just a couple of weeks we were both already feeling positive changes. For me, that “last five pounds” I had been trying to lose for five years suddenly came off effortlessly. We both felt more energetic, no more afternoon fatigue. And I saw how much clearer and more radiant my skin was becoming, something I hadn’t experienced in decades.

That thing that no one talks about

Even Justin (who was 9 at the time) experienced a noticeable difference! He came to me one day and very seriously asked me why he was suddenly “pooping so much.” It turns out, when you fuel your body with healthy plant-based whole foods, everything functions better. Even the pooping!

Let's do this together

My decision to start this blog was to document our vegan creations in a fun way so my son (when he eventually moves out) can easily recreate the healthy, delicious meals he grew up with. It will feel like Mom’s right there guiding him (and all of you!) with simple, foolproof recipes, easy step by step instructions, and mouth watering photos.

My family’s journey into vegan living may have started with curiosity, but it quickly turned into a way of life we absolutely love. Cooking vegan meals from scratch became my creative outlet, my love language, and my way to show that compassion and flavor can happily live on the same plate. Whether I’m testing a new cookie recipe or whipping up a weeknight dinner, everything I share is 100% created from plants and made with excitement, because we truly LOVE this lifestyle!

Some say Peanut, we say PeaNOT

If you, your spouse, or your kiddos have peanut allergies, you’re in a completely safe space here! We’ve been navigating peanut allergies for 15 years, as my son is also a peanut allergy kiddo. We’ve become pros at handling this challenge and creating safe, delicious meals completely free of peanuts. While some recipes may include other nuts, I’ll always provide nut-free substitutions wherever possible, so everyone can enjoy the food without worry.

How to Make Vegan Eating Simple, Flavorful, and Stress-Free

I know what it’s like to juggle busy days, hungry kids, and allergy-friendly cooking. That’s why every recipe here is vegan, practical, wholesome, and made to fit real life.

This isn’t about perfection, it’s about feeding the people you love with food that feels good and tastes delicious. Everything I share is tested in my own kitchen, often with my kiddo by my side, laughing, learning, and occasionally making the kitchen look like a tornado hit. And that’s part of the fun!

Here you’ll find everything from how to stock your vegan pantry for success), to impressing even the most stubborn carnivores (like my own Dad), to being the hit of the next school bake sale, and sooooo much more.

At Fresh Fun Flavor, every recipe is proudly vegan. That means no dairy, no eggs, no animal products. My goal is to show that vegan food is far from restrictive, it’s abundant, colorful, and incredibly satisfying. Whether you’re already a seasoned vegan, simply curious about eating more plant-based meals, or just here for the cookies (no judgment, promise!), you’ll find recipes that make your kitchen feel like the happiest place in your home.
